Cactus League: A’s vs. Reds

Monday, March 15th

A’s- Ben Sheets looked horrible. True, there were errors and bad luck behind him, but only so much of that can be blamed when you give up 10 runs WITHOUT RECORDING AN OUT. The latest in a string of poor showings by Sheets. Mark Ellis continued to look pretty good and a few other guys such as Daric Barton and Rajai Davis looked good today picking up where they left off. Not too much to report on as far as pitching goes other than the shelling of Sheets.

Reds- Not many regular starters played, but Chris Dickerson had himself an afternoon. The home run was nice, but even nicer was the consistent strong contact. He definitely has a shot at beating out Chris Heisey for the final outfield spot. Starter Mike Lincoln looked outstanding for the first 2 innings, but got shellacked in his third inning of work. Most of the Reds pitchers looked good, Francisco Cordero included. He gave up almost no solid contact. the only unfortunate thing was Aroldis Chapman’s absence. I wanted my $4 worth.
