AFL Update 5/31/2010

How far outta town will the OuttaTown Clowns go? How about Down Under to get an update of the Australian Football League (“AFL”)!
With 10 of the 22 Regular Season Games out of the way, the one question is: Can anyone stop the Geelong Cats? Standing atop the Ladder, Geelong has racked up an impressive 8 wins opposite 2 losses. The losses were low scoring affairs against second place Fremantle and a stunning upset to the Carlton Blues.
The only possible chink in the Cats armor came in week 2 with a 9 point squeaker over the Hawthorne Hawks. After Sunday’s win against The Bombers of Melbourne, Geelong has “won” 20 straight quarters, a new AFL Record.
Although Fremantle is statically tied with Geelong, the Dockers cannot compete in points scored trailing the Cats by nearly 100 points.
The Cats are soaring with exciting marks, goals and extras and look to play on the MCG and regain the Premiership on that “One Day in September”.
But not so fast! With 12 games left, the Ladder looks like a combination of old and new. Carlton, Sydney Swans and Brisbane Lions, the “New York Yankees” of the AFL, all could prove challenging when the Playoff Rounds begin in earnest.
Looking for a Long Shot? Look no further than Hawthorne. Just three spots away from the Elite Eight, the Hawks are looking to regain the Glory of the Days of Gary Bukenara, his 4 Premierships and the famous “Goal After the Siren.”
Ausie! Ausie! Ausie!
